Naples – A 22-year-old Neapolitan ended up in handcuffs yesterday afternoon in Scampia, surprised by the Police of the State while he was busy dealing drugs.
The arrest occurred during an operation conducted by agents of the Office of General Prevention and Public Aid, engaged in territorial control.
The incident occurred in Via Monte Rosa, where the police, during a routine patrol, noticed a young man with suspicious behavior: the boy was standing on the side of the road with a cautious attitude, attracting the attention of the police.
Suspicious, the officers decided to start a discreet observation service, which proved decisive. Shortly after, in fact, the 22-year-old was approached by an individual on board a car: in exchange for a banknote, the young man took something from a cavity in a nearby wall and handed it over to the buyer.
The officers intervened promptly, blocking the suspect and interrupting the exchange. Following the search, the boy was found in possession of 70 euros in cash, divided into banknotes of various denominations and considered the proceeds of the illicit activity, as well as a package containing marijuana and a cell phone.
But the discoveries did not stop there: in the cavity of the wall, from which the young man had taken the substance, the police found a shopping bag with a large quantity of drugs: 40 sticks of hashish, for a total weight of about 110 grams, 8 packages of marijuana weighing 11 grams and various materials intended for packaging the doses.
The 22-year-old was immediately arrested on charges of illegal possession of narcotics. The buyer, however, managed to escape, disappearing before the officers intervened. The operation is part of a broader effort to combat drug trafficking that continues to affect the Scampia neighborhood, the scene of frequent investigative activities by law enforcement.
