School Experience 4 returns to Campania, stopping in Altavilla Silentina, in the province of Salerno, after the edition held in mid-March in Savigliano, Cuneo. The initiative, organized by the Ente Autonomo Giffoni Experience, presents a selection of audiovisual products capable of addressing current issues with creativity and sensitivity, continuing its tour through Italy.
An Educational and Cultural Initiative
The festival is part of the National Cinema and Images Plan for Schools, under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education, and offers an immersive educational experience for primary and secondary school students. The events are held at the Municipal Auditorium "Antonio Casagrande" in Altavilla Silentina, involving the students of the Comprehensive Institute "Giovanni XXIII", with the support of the Association "Astronave a Pedali". The Mayor of Altavilla Silentina expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, hoping for a lasting involvement with the Giffoni Film Festival to enrich the educational experience of the students.
Competition and Participation Sections
During the event, participants have the opportunity to view works divided into two main sections: Your Experience and Short Experience, with screenings of works created by Italian schools and international professionals. In competition for students are titles such as “The disconnect” and “Giochi rubati”, while in the Short Experience section “Fino al mare” and “Lights” are presented. School Experience 4 aims to involve a large number of students and teachers in various Italian locations, with the contribution of experts and organizers throughout its duration.
Program and Collaborations
The organization of the event is entrusted to the scientific director Antonia Grimaldi and the project manager Marco Cesaro. The festival will end in 2025 in the Multimedia Valley of Giffoni Valle Piana, where special events are planned. The Ente Autonomo Giffoni Experience has established several collaborations with associations and cultural institutions to support the proposed activities, making this educational project unique.

The School Experience 4 initiative is very interesting and leads to reflect on the role of education in cinema. However, there are many aspects to improve in programming and collaborations. We hope that we can do better in the future.
I agree with the idea that the festival can be an important resource for students, but I wonder if schools are really involved and if there is a real synergy between institutions.
