This is a theatre workshop funded by the Campania Region and designed to promote the inclusion of twenty young autistic people.
A social inclusion project
The workshop, which will last eighteen months, is part of a large plan of territorial interventions promoted by the Campania Region. The initiative is organized by the Institute of Psychology and Socio-Health Research Ipers, together with the associations “Inclusione sociale” and “La città Adattabile. Napoli per l’autismo”. Covering the health district of the ASL Napoli 1 Centro and surrounding areas, the project aims to provide simple and concrete support to the families of the autistic children involved.
Laboratory objectives
Giuseppe Errico, psychologist and director of the project, emphasizes that the laboratory is a “communicative, psycho-rehabilitative and playful device” that aims to develop the relational and motor skills of the participants without emphasizing performances. Supported by a team of experts, the young people will work on activities such as theater, music and cooking. These efforts will materialize in socio-habilitative paths, aimed at improving social skills and individual autonomy. The project represents a significant opportunity for the twenty participating young people, promoting their social inclusion in different contexts of daily life.

It is interesting to know that in Naples there are initiatives like this to help autistic people. We hope it works well and that other similar projects will be created in the future to support families.
