NAPLES – “Not even a single euro will arrive”. The vice-president of the Region Campania, Fulvio Bonavitacola, unequivocally rejects the decree for the Land of Fires, calling it "a scam".
The accusation is clear: the measure does not provide additional resources, nor regulatory simplifications or an increase in law enforcement for territorial control. "It is an authoritarian transfer of resources from the Region to the commissioner, an act of institutional vulgarity", attacks Bonavitacola, who spoke on the sidelines of the presentation of Legambiente's Ecomafia Report, which was also attended by the sole commissioner for the Land of Fires, Giuseppe Vadalà.
“In Giugliano nothing has changed, we will open a political battle”
Vice Governor Vincenzo De Luca, with responsibility for the Environment, announces a “frontal polemic” against the decree. “Five years have passed since Parliament identified Giugliano as a Site of National Interest for remediation, but nothing has been done,” Bonavitacola emphasizes.
Criticism also of the method adopted by the government. "The decree and the commissionership were flaunted, but without allocating a single euro. Resources are only being taken away from the Region to be transferred to the commissioner. I have nothing personal against Vadalà, but this is not loyal institutional collaboration".
Resources remain regional
The vice president recalls that the Campania Region had already allocated 70 million euros for the remediation of some priority sites. “But they are not the only ones that need to be addressed. It is absurd to provide a measure that totally excludes the Region,” concludes Bonavitacola, reiterating that the only funds truly available remain the regional ones.
