The seismic swarm that began at 1.25 this morning with a magnitude 4.4 shock continues in the Campi Flegrei.
The Vesuvius Observatory, the Naples branch of the INGV, reports that 28 earthquakes have been preliminarily detected so far, 9 of which have a magnitude greater than 1.0. A new update is expected in the next few hours.
“The overall situation leaves us moderately calm because beyond the rubble and everything that happened with respect to the event itself, something more could have happened and thank God this did not happen”.
This was stated by the prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, who launched an appeal at the end of the meeting of the Rescue Coordination Center: “We must create a large citizens-institutions team, we are on the right track”.
We have about 11 people who have gone to the hospital, a closed church, a closed building, another closed building of about 7 floors, this means that people must be accompanied and housed - he explained - I spoke with some citizens, there is a lot of responsibility, there is a collective conscience that acquires awareness of the state of the places and of what the story of the Phlegraean fields.
But this also means that we must act in the way we are already acting: that is, the entire institutional chain is marching in the same direction and this is the best response we can give to citizens".
