Rome – The Carabinieri of the Operational Nucleus of the Eur Company have arrested two men, a 40-year-old originally from the province of Caserta and a 52-year-old from Naples, both unemployed and with criminal records, accused to varying degrees of improper use and counterfeiting of payment instruments other than cash.
The operation began yesterday afternoon, along the Gianicolense ring road, when the military noticed the two on board a car stopped near a bank branch.
Following a check, the suspects were found in possession of 99 ATM cards, registered to as many holders. Seven of these cards had been used shortly before to make withdrawals at the bank's ATM, as confirmed by the receipts still in the hands of the two.
The 40-year-old also had 950 euros in cash with him. All the material, including cell phones and the rental car used by the couple, was seized by the authorities.
