A tragic accident occurred this afternoon in the Venice lagoon, causing the death of a woman and injuring four people.
The incident occurred around 16.30pm, when a boat violently hit a mooring post near the island of Torcello.
Immediate interventions
Some passing boats provided first aid to those involved in the accident. The fire brigade quickly arrived on site with a fire engine and divers, together with the personnel of the Emergency and Medical Urgency Service (Suem), to manage the emergency and assist the injured.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident, while the local community remains shocked by the incident.
