NAPLES – The extraordinary checks ordered by the Naples Police Headquarters to combat the spread of weapons and narcotics in high-risk neighborhoods continue.
Yesterday, the State Police arrested two men, both already known to law enforcement, for possession with intent to sell drugs.
The first intervention took place in the Vicaria neighborhood, in Vico Vetriera Vecchia, where agents from the General Prevention and Public Aid Office, during a patrol, noticed a suspicious exchange between two men. One of the two handed over a banknote and received something from an envelope in exchange.
The police intervened promptly, stopping the suspect - a 54-year-old Neapolitan with a specific criminal record - found in possession of 3 packages of cocaine, 2 pieces of hashish, a bag containing 34 grams of marijuana and 55 euros in cash, believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing.
The second arrest took place a few hours later in Scampia, in via Don Lorenzo Milani, where the officers witnessed another similar scene: a man took something from a gate and gave it, in exchange for money, to a person who immediately walked away.
In this case too, the immediate intervention of the police led to the arrest of a 40-year-old Neapolitan, also with specific precedents.
180 euros in cash were found on the man, while near the fence the police recovered five bags of marijuana weighing a total of approximately 6 grams.
Both suspects were arrested on charges of illegal possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing. The operations are part of a broader plan to prevent and repress crimes related to widespread crime in the most sensitive neighborhoods of Naples.
