Aversa, clandestine alcohol laboratory discovered

A clandestine laboratory for the production of alcoholic beverages was discovered in Aversa by the Carabinieri of the local Company, in collaboration with the staff of the Anti-Fraud Office of the Customs and Monopolies Agency of Campania.

Structure, hidden in an underground warehouse, was found to be fully equipped for the illicit mixing and bottling of liqueurs and spirits.

During the operation, which took place in the late afternoon of April 17, the following were seized: 1.600 litres of 96% alcohol, 550 liters of alcoholic beverages ready for sale, thousands of counterfeit labels of well-known brands and fake state seals.

Inside the warehouse, they also found 1.000 kg of food poorly preserved, so the intervention of the Fire Brigade was requested in order to secure the area.

A 56-year-old man from Sant'Arpino has been reported.

A 56-year-old from Sant'Arpino ended up in trouble, reported for clandestine production of alcohol and alteration of state stamps. The man will also have to answer for administrative violations that cost him fines of 54.500 euros.

During the same service, the authorities inspected a commercial exercise in the vicinity of the laboratory: the 30 year old owner reported for selling counterfeit and unauthorized alcohol. Two irregular workers were found inside the store, including a minor. He was also fined 14.200 euros.

A double operation that has brought to light a vast illegal production and marketing of alcohol, with serious risks for public health and food safety.

It's incredible how there are people who can do such dangerous things. The production of alcohol illegally can lead to serious consequences for both the drinker and the producer. There should be more controls.
