It is surprising that the Court of Appeal acquitted Giovanni D'Alessandro, given that the charges were serious. It would be interesting to know what evidence was presented to dismantle the accusation and whether there were any disputes.
The Court's decision is thought-provoking, because drug trafficking charges are not trivial matters. We hope that the legal system always works in the best way to avoid injustices.
I don't know if it's right to acquit a person on such charges, but it's clear that the trial has exposed weaknesses in the evidence. Perhaps there is a need for reform in our legal system.
