Naples – On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, ABIO Napoli (Association for Children in Hospital) is relaunching the “Cinema in Corsia” project, an initiative that brings the big screen directly into pediatric wards, giving hospitalized children and adolescents a moment of escape and lightheartedness.
The goal is clear: to alleviate the burden of hospitalization, transforming corridors and rooms into places of magic and fun.
The project kicked off on April 5 at the Santobono Hospital in Naples, with a double screening of the animated film Super Mario Bros. Two events, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, enlivened the Emergency Surgery and Emergency Pediatrics departments, involving the young patients in an experience that was able to bring a smile to their faces and distract them, at least for a few hours, from the difficulties of hospitalization.
Thanks to the dedication of ABIO volunteers, cinema thus becomes a tool of comfort, capable of alleviating the stress and fear that often accompany a stay in hospital.
The initiative does not stop there: “Cinema in corsia” is intended to reach all the pediatric departments where the ABIO volunteer service operates, creating a welcoming and familiar atmosphere. A project that is part of the association's broader commitment to humanizing pediatric care, a path that began in 2000 and carried forward with passion by about 300 volunteers active in 10 hospitals in Naples and the province.
ABIO Napoli does not limit itself to offering emotional support to children and their families, but enriches their daily lives with recreational activities ranging from reading “The Bedtime Story” to creative workshops and games, all designed to provide moments of lightheartedness.
“Bringing cinema to the wards is a way to give children a piece of normality back,” explain the leaders of ABIO Napoli. “We want them to feel less alone and for the hospital to become, at least for a moment, a place of joy and not just of care.” A commitment that requires everyone’s support: for this reason, the association invites you to allocate 5×1000 to support its activities.
Just enter the tax code 94202690635 and sign in the box "Support for third sector entities registered with RUNTS" during the tax return. "A gesture that costs nothing, but that can change the lives of many young patients and their families", the association emphasizes.
With 25 years of history behind it, ABIO Napoli continues to be a point of reference for hospitality and support in the pediatric field, demonstrating how solidarity and creativity can make a difference even in the most difficult moments. Thanks to the contribution of volunteers and supporters, the “Cinema in corsia” project promises to brighten up many more days in the wards, giving children the chance to dream, despite everything.

It's a wonderful initiative that can help a lot the children in hospital, but I hope that other hospitals can participate. Cinema is a way to distract them and make them forget their problems for a while.
