During today's Naples City Council, a particularly sensitive issue was brought to the attention of the assembly: the critical situation of two city dog shelters, which are facing serious difficulties related to both management and structural conditions.
Fiorella Saggese, representative of NAPLES Supportive, green europe e Defend the City, reported in court the eviction case concerning the dog shelter Adelaide Goodcore, which currently houses around 80 dogs. Another episode concerns the kennel The Phoenix, which unfortunately turns out to be irregular and hosts around 200 dogs.
Both shelters are involved in the management and care of stray animals, with a total expenditure of around 400.000 euros, but structural and bureaucratic difficulties continue to weigh heavily on their activities. Saggese's intervention highlighted how both situations are extremely serious and worrying, not only for the well-being of the animals, but also for the role that volunteers play daily to ensure their care.
The councilor then underlined a worrying aspect: these problems have never been brought to the attention of the commission. Animal protection, a body that should monitor and intervene on these issues. Massimo Cilenti, a representative of NAPLES Free, reiterated the need for urgent intervention by the institutions to resolve the problems related to the management of kennels. His request focused on the importance of timely action, involving both the municipal administration and the associations and volunteers, in order to guarantee the dignity of the animals and the safety of the structures.

It is really sad that the kennels in Naples are going through so many difficulties. We cannot let the animals suffer so much. We must find solutions to help the kennels and those who work there.
