Rome. The Cyber Security Foundation has been officially included in the European Union Transparency Register, a recognition that attests to its role as a qualified interlocutor in the processes of consultation and participation in European policies.
A milestone that confirms the Foundation's vocation to contribute in an active and structured way to the definition of European strategies on cybersecurity, the fight against digital crime and the protection of personal data.
The Cyber Security Foundation, the first Italian non-profit foundation on the cyber world, thus strengthens its commitment to involving EU policy makers and stakeholders from industry and government, in line with the mission started since its early days.
“This accreditation by the European Union - says Marco Gabriele Proietti, president and founder of the Cyber Security Foundation - honors us and at the same time calls us to a renewed responsibility. A result that was possible thanks to the teamwork, commitment and expertise of the entire team of the Foundation.
The official entry into the European system, the result of teamwork, represents a new phase for the Foundation: a consolidation of our vocation for internationalization and an opportunity to put our experience at the service of a safer, more resilient and aware digital Europe”.
“The registration of the Cyber Security Foundation with the European Union - continues Proietti - takes place in a context in which digital awareness and skills are still insufficient. As also highlighted by Istat, in 2023, only 56% of European citizens had at least basic digital skills, highlighting a significant difference between the Member States.
In parallel, the Enisa Threat Landscape 2024 report reports a substantial increase in cyber attacks in the European Union, with a 24% increase compared to the previous year. These data underline the urgency of initiatives aimed at strengthening training and information on digital security, involving policy makers, industry professionals and citizens”.
In this perspective, in July, in Brussels, in the heart of the European Institutions, the Cyber Security Foundation will present the results of the first six months of studies of the Observatory 'Cyber Sustainability & Resilience'.
The Transparency Register allows the Cyber Security Foundation to actively participate in the discussion and registration tables in European decision-making processes, with the aim of contributing to a more effective, integrated and shared cybersecurity policy at a continental level.
