Naples – Extraordinary success for the first Sunday of the month dedicated to free culture. The initiative #domenicalmuseo, promoted by Ministry of Culture, has once again recorded record numbers, confirming the incredible attractiveness of Italian heritage.
The partial data released by MiC highlight the public's clear preference for Pompeii, the Royal Palace of Caserta and the Colosseum, which are confirmed among the most visited cultural sites in Italy.
Pompei dominates the ranking with 20.000 visitors, followed by the Palace of Caserta with 17.413 attendance and from Colosseum with 15.252 accesses, only for the Flavian Amphitheatre. Completing the podium of the most frequented places is also the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill (13.764), the Pantheon (12.000) and the Uffizi Galleries (11.680)
The Napoli stands out with important numbers: the National archeologic museum welcomed 6.900 Guests, Castel Sant'Elmo and the Museum of the Twentieth Century 7.206, while the Royal Palace has reached the 5.679 attendance. A significant turnout also in the nearby sites: Herculaneum (5.103) Paestum and Velia (5.726) and Ostia Antica (5.124)
To these numbers are added also the 22.179 visitors al ViVe – Vittoriano and Palazzo Venezia and 21.417 inputs al Boboli Gardens, confirming the initiative's effectiveness in attracting audiences to national cultural sites.
In the capital of Naples, yesterday, record-breaking queues were recorded since the morning outside the main museums, also thanks to the return of the sun and the spring air. From Pompeii at the Mann, Elmo al Royal Palace, Naples has returned to being one of the most popular cultural destinations for tourists, both Italian and foreign. And a great initiative that of free Sunday, but I think that more publicity is needed to make more people know about the various museums. In addition, the lines were long and this made access difficult.
