Capaccio – A dramatic road accident shocked the town of Spinazzo, in the Salerno area, last night along state road 18.
Two young men, a twenty-year-old and a twenty-two-year-old, were seriously injured in a violent head-on collision between their cars, a Volkswagen Golf and a Dacia Sandero.
The impact, which occurred around 2:00 am, was so devastating that it caused one of the cars to overturn and end up off the road.
The Carabinieri, the 118 paramedics and the Fire Brigade promptly intervened on site and worked for a long time to free the two boys trapped in the twisted sheet metal of the vehicles.
After a complex operation, the injured were extracted and transported urgently: one to the civil hospital of Battipaglia, the other to San Luca di Vallo della Lucania. Their conditions are serious, but, according to initial information, their lives are not in danger.
Investigations are underway to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the accident.
Among the hypotheses being examined by investigators, high speed seems to be the most likely cause of the collision. State Road 18, the scene of numerous accidents, is thus back in the spotlight for its dangerousness.
