La Court of Cassation has cancelled, for the second time, the custody order for Luigi Cacciapuoti e Domenico Ferrara, considered to be at the top of the Ferrara-Cacciapuoti clan and accused of extortion aggravated by the mafia method.
The decision of the "ermellini" represents a new twist in a judicial affair involving alleged leading figures of organized crime active in the Neapolitan hinterland.
The Supreme Court has accepted the appeals of the two defendants, defended by the lawyers Antonio Bruganti, Raffaele Chiummarielloe Luigi Poziello, cancelling the precautionary measures ordered against them. The appeals presented by Joseph Ruocco, Francesco Ferrara e Julius D'Altrui, whose position therefore remains unchanged.
According to the prosecution's case, Ferrara and Cacciapuoti would have been i instigators of an extortion demand of 50 thousand euros, advanced against the sellers of a house.
The investigators also contest the imposition of a company linked to the clan to buyers intending to renovate the property, a classic mechanism of territorial control by organised crime.
Now, after the annulment of the Supreme Court, the case will return to the Review Court, called to rule again on the existence of precautionary requirements. A judicial process that is further complicated and that turns the spotlight on the need for even more rigorous investigations in the presence of such serious accusations.

It is interesting to see how the Supreme Court overturned the order, but I wonder if this can have any effect on justice. Organized crime is a serious problem and the decisions taken are important for the future.
