The 18-year-old accused of the murder of was sentenced to 8 years and 17 months in prison by the Juvenile Court Holy Roman, the 19-year-old killed during the night between November 1st and 2nd in San Sebastiano al Vesuvio, at the height of an argument that started over a pair of dirty shoes.
The trial took place with abbreviated procedure. Il Public Prosecutor Ettore La Ragione had asked for a 17-year sentence. Upon leaving the courtroom, the sentence sparked anger among the victim's friends and family, who shouted at the judges: "You suck!"
The incident has shocked public opinion due to the absurdity of the motive and the young age of the boy killed, a promise of local football.
