Mondragone - Killed by his own gun with which he had shown up at an appointment with another entrepreneur to discuss an economic issue and perhaps a scam.
A bloody murder shook this morning near the Agip service station in Mondragone, where Luigi Magrino, a 48-year-old businessman living in Formia, was shot dead.
The alleged perpetrator of the crime was quickly identified and arrested by the Carabinieri of the Territorial Department of MondragoneThis is Giancarlo Pagliaro, an entrepreneur and owner of a furniture factory.
From the initial investigations of the Carabinieri, it would have emerged that the gun that fired was the victim's, and not Pagliaro's; among the hypotheses being examined is that of an argument that ended in a fight, with the entrepreneur who would have tried to disarm Magrino, firing a shot that later proved fatal.
The military have in fact ascertained that only one shot was fired; they then analysed the video surveillance images of the petrol pump and listened to some witnesses.
The investigators' initial reconstructions suggest a financial motive. The brutal act would have arisen from a violent dispute related to previous financial disputes between the victim and the attacker. The investigators, coordinated by Colonel Antonio Bandelli, are trying to clarify whether the fatal meeting at the service station was a coincidence or a planned appointment. To this end, they are examining witness statements and images recorded by surveillance cameras in the area.
Meanwhile, details about the victim's profile are emerging. As reported by journalist Marilena Natale, Luigi Magrino had a controversial past, with a cover image on his social profile depicting the well-known Camorra boss Michele Zagaria, an element that could now be crucial to the investigation.
Furthermore, Magrino was allegedly at the center of an alleged scam involving several hundred thousand euros to the detriment of Giancarlo Pagliaro himself, thus becoming a possible detonator of the tragic escalation of violence.
The scene of the murder, which occurred during a busy time at the service station, threw many customers and the gas station manager into a panic, powerless witnesses to the incident. The area was immediately cordoned off to allow the military to carry out the scientific surveys necessary to gather evidence useful for the ongoing investigations.
