Mourning in football: Jorge Eladio Bolaño Correa, former Colombian midfielder known in Italy for his time with Parma and the Colombian national team, died suddenly at the age of 47.
The death occurred in the city of Cúcuta, in northern Colombia, where the former footballer was attending a party. According to local media, he had suffered a sudden heart attack. Bolaño was a well-known face in international football between the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Raised in Atlético Junior de Barranquilla, a team with which he became an idol, he then made himself known in Europe thanks to his experience in the Italian championship, where he wore the jerseys of Parma, Sampdoria, Lecce and Modena. With the Colombian national team he participated in the 1998 World Cup in France, representing his country with pride and determination in midfield.
The entire Colombian football movement is mourning him today. In an official note, the Football Federation (FCF) expressed its condolences to the family and loved ones of the former player, calling him “an exemplary professional, a sportsman whose legacy will live on in the collective memory of Colombian football.” “His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and admired him”, concluded the Federation.

This is very sad news, Jorge Eladio Bolaño was a great footballer and did a lot for Colombian football. His death is a blow for all of us fans, especially those of Parma who will always remember him.
