Naples is preparing to celebrate an unprecedented anniversary, commemorating the 2500th anniversary of the founding of Neapolis with a unique event in honor of the International Day of Dance. Piazza del Plebiscito will be transformed into an open-air stage for “Napoli Città Danzante,” an initiative conceived by Laura Valente, the artistic director of the Napoli 2500 celebrations.
An Imposing Stage
Thanks to a collaboration between the Teatro di San Carlo and the Municipality of Naples, under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, the event promises to amaze. Soloists and stars of the Teatro's opera company, directed by Clotilde Vayer, will be the protagonists of an extraordinary performance in the heart of the city. It will not be reserved only for professionals: young people and adults will have the opportunity to join an outdoor dance lesson in an absolutely suggestive context.
Celebration of a Millenary Tradition
The Teatro di San Carlo, the oldest theater in operation since 1737 and cradle of the first Italian dance school founded in 1812, celebrates its historical achievements with this event. In an atmosphere of sharing and creativity, Piazza del Plebiscito will become a stage for everyone, offering an exceptional opportunity to participate.Event Information
The 50-minute performance, which will begin at 18 p.m., will be accessible to all free of charge. Registration is required and will open at 15 p.m. on April 1, 2025 via the dedicated website: https://teatro-san-carlo-napoli.eventcube.io/events/72918/napoli-citta-danzante. The Naples event looks very interesting and engaging, but I have questions about how registration will work. I hope it will be easy and that there will be plenty of opportunities for beginners to participate.
