The new bridge over the Agnena Canal was inaugurated today, at Km 3+310 of the Provincial Road 21 “Cancello Arnone – Cappella Reale”. The ribbon cutting was attended by the President of the Province of Caserta Marcello De Rosa and the mayors of Gate and Arnone and Francolise, Raffaele Ambrosca and Saturnino Di Benedetto.
The work, worth over 600 thousand euros, was financed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and is strategic for improving traffic and safety in the area. The bridge strengthens the connection between the Agro Aversano and the Litorale Domizio, representing a crucial hub for mobility in the entire district.
The old structure, seriously compromised by static failures, was demolished and rebuilt from scratch: 90 meters long by 12 meters wide. The decision followed checks carried out in collaboration with the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”, which had highlighted the concrete risk of collapse.
"After years of interdiction, we are finally reopening the Agnena bridge," De Rosa said. "It is a completely new structure, essential for connections between Cancello and Arnone, Francolise and Mondragone. I wanted to personally apologize to the citizens for the long waiting times: the work went on well beyond what was expected due to numerous unforeseen events. But today we can be satisfied: we have a safe, functional and also aesthetically pleasing bridge.
It is an important day for the Province of Caserta, for the Mazzoni area, for Cancello and
Arnone and all the surrounding area”.
The President also thanked the Province's Roads Department, "starting with the former manager Gerardo Palmieri, who followed the entire project process and resolved the numerous critical issues that arose over the years, the new manager Teresa Ricciardiello, who led the final phases, the sole person responsible for the procedure Claudio Trisolino and all the employees of the Roads Department who made this important achievement possible".
