A special ticket to promote the Villa of Poppea in Oplontis and a new ticket office for the Archaeological Park of Pompei at Piazza Garibaldi station.
These are the two initiatives born from the synergy between the Municipality of Torre Annunziata, the Eav and the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, with the aim of enhancing the sites of the so-called "Great Pompeii" and encouraging tourism in the Vesuvian area.
The first action, proposed by the Tourism Councilor of Torre Annunziata Alfonso Ascione, sees the Municipality collaborate with the Archaeological Park and the Eav Management to launch a promotional ticket.
Starting in the next few days, 10 tickets for the “Urbano Napoli” circuit will be available at Eav ticket offices, decorated with an image of the Villa of Poppea and the slogan “Visit Oplontis”.
The initiative, included in a Memorandum of Understanding for co-marketing activities between the Municipality and Eav, was illustrated today during a press conference at the Eav General Management in Naples. Present were the Mayor of Torre Annunziata Corrado Cuccurullo, the Director of the Archaeological Park Gabriel Zuchtriegel, the President of Eav Umberto De Gregorio and the Councilor for Tourism of the Campania Region Felice Casucci.
“This ticket was created to promote the archaeological area of Oplontis and intercept the tourist flows that reach the metropolitan area of Naples,” declared Mayor Cuccurullo. “Torre Annunziata is not only the Villa of Poppea: we also aim to make our historic center, churches and views of the territory known.
The Park is doing an exceptional job for the Great Pompeii, and every Municipality must contribute to supporting these efforts. The idea of the ticket, launched by Councilor Ascione, goes exactly in this direction”.
At the same time, an agreement was signed between Eav and the Archaeological Park for the opening of a ticket sales point for the Park at the Circumvesuviana station in Piazza Garibaldi. This innovation is designed to simplify access to the archaeological sites: visitors will be able to purchase tickets at the station, avoiding queues at the entrance.
Since last November, the Pompeii site has introduced a daily limit of access and the nominative ticket: buying it in advance will guarantee a quicker and safer entrance.
“This initiative reinforces our vision of a Greater Pompeii, a widespread park that connects the ancient city of Pompeii to suburban villas such as that of Poppea in Torre Annunziata, Villa Regina in Boscoreale and the Villas Arianna and San Marco in Castellammare di Stabia,” underlined Gabriel Zuchtriegel.
“We applaud the Municipality for this proposal and the agreement for the ticket office, which facilitates tourists and promotes the territory”.
Satisfaction also from Umberto De Gregorio, President of Eav: "In addition to connecting the territory, Eav is establishing itself as a facilitator of cultural projects. Collaborating with the Archaeological Park and the Municipalities we serve is a recognition of our commitment. The Piazza Garibaldi station, a crucial hub for regional tourism, thus becomes a privileged access point to services for visitors".
A step forward for Vesuvian tourism, which combines cultural promotion, institutional synergies and innovation in services, with the aim of making the Great Pompeii increasingly accessible and attractive.

It is an interesting and useful initiative to promote tourism in the area, but I hope it is not just a temporary thing. The Villa of Poppea is a very important site, it deserves continued attention and not only with promotional tickets.
