The 2025 edition of the Elsa Morante Prize is underway, this year ideally dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the death of the famous writer. The jury of the prestigious prize, chaired by Dacia Maraini and composed of Marco Cerbo, Enzo Colimoro, Lino Guanciale, David Morante, Tiuna Notarbartolo, Antonio Parlati, Alfredo Rapetti Mogol, Fiorenza Sarzanini and Teresa Triscari, has unanimously decreed the three winning books of the sections of the Elsa Morante Ragazzi Prize.

The selected books will be read by thousands of young people in Italy and around the world, who make up the international network of Morante. The winners are:
– “Resisti cuore” (Mondadori) by Alessandro D'Avenia, winner of the Elsa Morante Ragazzi – Il sapere Award;
– “Fireflies, sharks and a bit of pasta” (Salani) by Donatella Di Pietrantonio, winner of the Elsa Morante Ragazzi – Fiction Award;
– “On My Land” (De Agostini) by Francesca Mannocchi, winner of the *Elsa Morante Ragazzi – La Storia Award.
The involvement of schools and the international jury
About ten thousand students from all over the world — including Albania, France, the United States and others — will be able to read the books and vote for their favorite. The most appreciated book will receive the Elsa Morante Scuole Award.

Final event in Naples and live online
The grand finale of the 2025 edition will be held on May 13 at the Auditorium of Città della Scienza, in Naples, where a thousand young people will be present in the audience. Everyone else will be able to follow the event live on the Facebook and Instagram channels of the Elsa Morante Prize.

The event is organized by the Elsa Morante Prize Cultural Association.

This Elsa Morante Award is a beautiful event. I hope that the winning books are interesting and bring new readers. Schools should encourage reading among children more, it is important for the future.
