“Turn on the light!” (Maninalto!), the new single by The Hormonauts, is out today, Friday, April 4, on digital platforms and in all digital stores. This song marks an awaited return of the band from Romagna, who has chosen a surprisingly bold setting.
Article Key Points
In fact, the song is placed “on a toilet bowl”, a place that, although unusual, represents one of the few “comfort zones” where it is possible to reflect on reality. “Turn on the light! Turn on the light if you don’t know how to do what’s right, turn on the light” is an invitation to wake up from the torpor in a dark age, suggesting that it is easier to anesthetize anxieties with superficial remedies.
A return in style
The Hormonauts, active since 1999, have always stood out for their eclectic style, mixing rockabilly, punk/rock and country with a dash of irony. The band is composed of Sasso, a famous double bass player in the European rock'n'roll circuit, Pinna, a drummer from the punk/hardcore scene and Andy, guitarist and singer with a long history in the Mutoids. With a career that includes iconic albums such as “Hormone Hop” and “Spanish Omelette”, The Hormonauts have conquered the Italian and international music scene. Their single of the revisited “Staying Alive” was a huge success, leading the band to open concerts for prestigious artists and to participate in the most important festivals.
The experimentation continues
Over the years, the band has continued to experiment, as demonstrated by “Spanish Omelette”, a collaboration with Kenny Diesel. This fusion of musical genres has given birth to a unique and surprising sound, described as an electrobilly cocktail. In 2008, their revisitation of “Staying Alive” was selected as the soundtrack for the French film “J'irai dormir a' Hollywood”, obtaining a great response in French cinemas. With the XNUMXth anniversary, they decided to reissue their early works, demonstrating an enviable longevity and versatility in the current music scene. Their next release “Turn on the light!” is already expected to be a great success.

I think the band has an interesting story and the new single seems promising. But I don't understand why they chose such a strange place for the video. I hope the song is at least of quality.
