Naples – Two weeks after the tragic accident at the Monte Faito cable car, which occurred on April 17, encouraging news has arrived on the conditions of Thabet Suliman, the 23-year-old who was the only survivor of the fall of a cabin.
The young tourist, hospitalized in intensive care at the Ospedale del Mare in Naples, was declared "awake and collaborating" by the doctors treating him.
After the suspension of sedation, which occurred last April 26, the health workers at the Neapolitan hospital reported "stable respiratory parameters" and an "improvement in the patient's general parameters".
Suliman is still undergoing dialysis, and as specified in a note, continuous monitoring will allow us to evaluate in the next few days the possibility of lifting the confidentiality on the prognosis and transferring him to the orthopedic ward.
In recent days, the young man received a visit from his brother, also a doctor, currently hosted at the Residence Ospedale del Mare. Thabet Suliman miraculously survived the fall of the cable car cabin, which occurred a few moments before arriving at the station at the top of the mountain.
The dramatic accident resulted in the loss of four lives, including that of Thabet's 25-year-old sister, Janan, the cabin controller, Carmine Parlato, and an English couple. Investigations into the causes of the disaster are still ongoing.
