The children, Bojan and his 17-year-old brother, intervened after hearing their parents screaming. The argument escalated into the children's bedroom, where Bojan grabbed a knife and stabbed his father several times, killing him.
Confession and motive
When questioned by prosecutor Patrizia Foiera, Bojan Panic, a student at the Galilei high school in Bolzano, confessed to the murder, stating that he did not realize he had killed his father. The young man, assisted by lawyer Veronica Manca, stated that he acted to defend his mother, the victim of a complex family situation and a conflict that had lasted for some time.
The mother, interviewed by investigators, confirmed her son's story, describing a family climate marked by violence and her husband's alcoholism.
Bojan Panic was arrested and is in prison awaiting the validation hearing, scheduled for Monday. The Carabinieri are continuing the investigation at the crime scene and an autopsy will be ordered on the victim's body to clarify the dynamics of the facts. The Panic family, of Bosnian origin, had been living in Mezzolombardo for about a year and a half.
