A request for money denied, then the blind fury: he grabbed the handle of a broom and attacked his mother and sister, hitting them repeatedly until the intervention of the carabinieri, who disarmed him and arrested him. It happened in Calitri, in Alta Irpinia, where a 36-year-old already known to the police for previous episodes of domestic violence was stopped and transferred to the prison of Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi.
According to the reconstruction by the military, the young man had repeatedly demanded money from his family members and, faced with yet another refusal, he gave vent to his aggression with brutal determination. It was not the first time that the 36-year-old had endangered the safety of his loved ones, but this time the situation degenerated to the point of requiring the armed intervention of the Carabinieri to stop him.
The arrest was ordered by the Public Prosecutor's Office Avellino on charges of mistreatment of family members and personal injury. A story that turns the spotlight back on the hidden drama of domestic violence, often silenced out of fear or shame, but which too often ends in tragedy.
