Misadventure with a happy ending last night in the Valle delle Ferriere, in the Pogerola area, a hamlet of the municipality of Amalfi, where a couple of foreign hikers were injured and missing during a walk in the mountains.
The two had lost their bearings, slipping into a difficult area.

The woman's condition immediately appeared critical: she suffered a head injury, a fractured femur and right arm. After being stabilized and "stretched out", she was carried on the shoulders along the path to the winch point for the subsequent transfer by helicopter to the "Castiglione" hospital in Ravello.
The operation once again highlighted the high level of training and professionalism of the SAGF teams, specialized in rescue operations in mountainous and high-risk environments.

I read about the incident and was impressed by the skill of the rescuers. However, I wonder how it was possible for the couple to get lost in such a dangerous area. They should be more prepared before going to the mountains.
