Gragnano - The third phase of the operation “Continuum Bellum” has begun, conducted by the Carabinieri of the Castellammare di Stabia company together with the soldiers of the Calabria Helicopter Hunters Squadron, with the aim of ferreting out weapons and drugs in the impervious territories of the Lattari Mountains, in particular in the area known in the news as the “Jamaica of the South”.
The blitz on the slopes of the “Castle”
During the patrols in the rural area of Gragnano, the military scanned caves and natural inlets along the rocky ridge of the area called “Castello”, finding a significant arsenal and narcotics. Seized:
1 kg of marijuana, divided into two packages (one of 1 kg and one of 120 grams)
2 pistols with erased serial number
2 hunting rifles
107 rounds of ammunition of various calibers
3 magazines
1 spray can of gun lubricant
The weapons were well preserved and ready for use, hidden underground and carefully concealed, a testament to the criminal activity still active in the area.
Armed youth reported near school
During the same operations, the Carabinieri reported a 26-year-old local man, caught in via Aurano near an abandoned school building. The young man was found in possession of a switchblade and reported to the judicial authorities.

All-summer carpet operation
Operation “Continuum Bellum 3” is part of an extraordinary territorial control plan aimed at hitting the illicit trafficking that has plagued the Monti Lattari area for years, historically used for the storage of weapons and narcotics. The activities will continue throughout the summer, with the use of men on the ground, specialized units, drones and air support.
The choice of the name “Continuum Bellum” – the war continues – is not accidental: what is being fought on the Lattari Mountains is a silent but constant war against a criminality that camouflages itself among the harshness of the territory.
The discovery of an arsenal and large quantities of drugs shows how alive and structured the criminal organization is in these places. The work of prevention and contrast of the forces of law and order remains fundamental to remove portions of territory from the control of the drug dealing areas and armed petty crime.

It is important that law enforcement continue to carry out checks in areas such as the Monti Lattari, where there are drug and weapon problems. We hope that this operation will lead to positive and lasting results.
