Bacoli – A construction site was seized in via Spiaggia Romana, in the municipal territory of Bacoli, within a SIC (Site of Community Interest) area protected by the Campi Flegrei Regional Park.
The operation was conducted by the military of the Carabinieri Forestale Nucleus of Pozzuoli, as part of a control activity aimed at environmental protection.
The area, of particular naturalistic value due to the presence of coastal dunes that characterize the landscape, was affected by maintenance work on a building, in an area extending for approximately 10.000 square meters.
During the inspection, the military found that the works were being carried out without the necessary Environmental Impact Assessment (VINCA), which is mandatory for interventions in Natura 2000 sites.
Further documentary checks also revealed false declarations in the notice of commencement of works (CILA): the client allegedly failed to declare that the area was subject to environmental constraints, erroneously claiming that no further consent documents were necessary.
10 square meter building without any authorization
In light of the violations found, the Carabinieri placed the entire area under seizure and reported three people to the judicial authorities: the director of the works, the owner of the property (as well as the client) and the sole director of the executing company.
The alleged crimes refer to the Consolidated Law on Construction (Presidential Decree 380/01) and to article 483 of the Penal Code (ideological forgery in a public document).
The intervention is part of the activities to combat illegal building and illegal land use carried out by the Group CarabinieriForestry of Naples, to protect the environmental and landscape heritage of the Phlegraean Fields.

It is incredible that there are still people who do work without the proper authorizations. Environmental protection should be a priority for everyone, especially in such beautiful areas as Bacoli. I hope that severe measures are taken.
