An argument between Atalanta and Inter fans escalated into murder on Saturday evening in Bergamo. Riccardo Claris, 26, an Atalanta fan known as "Claris" in the Curva Nord, was stabbed to death in the back on Via dei Ghirardelli, a few hundred meters from the stadium.
The person who stabbed him was Jacopo De Simone, a 19-year-old with no criminal record, who told the magistrate that he acted to defend his twin brother.

Jacopo, seeing his rivals arrive and worried about his brother, went up to the house to get a knife. Then, a single lethal stab wound to Claris, so violent that it broke the blade. The intervention of the emergency services was useless: the 26-year-old died shortly after. De Simone was arrested and is now in prison awaiting validation.
Condolences in the city and among the Atalanta fans, who yesterday displayed a banner in his memory in Monza: “Claris everywhere with us”Mayor Elena Carnevali expressed her closeness to the family, hoping that “similar tragedies will never happen again.”

The situation between Atalanta and Inter fans is very serious, it should never come to this. Unfortunately, football leads to this violence that cannot be justified in any way. We hope that there will be measures.
It is sad to see how a passion can turn into violence, rivalries should remain in the game and not in real life. More education is needed among fans to avoid similar episodes.
This news is shocking, I wonder what is happening in our society if we reach these extreme acts. A person's life cannot be put at risk for a game.
Dying for a ball, this is not football, it's pure violence, going to his house, taking a knife and stabbing him, means that that twisted mind knew what he was doing and did it to make him pay, not to defend his brother, nobody believes it, RIP to the player who for the umpteenth time loses his life for a couple of goals.
