Bit Generation Live Party, which will be held on May 9, 2025 at 21:00 pm at Officine San Carlo, curated by sociologist-singer-songwriter Lello Savonardo, represents a journey of sounds, words, rhythms and emotions. Through music, cultural and social changes, expressive languages, forms of communication and the hardships of different generations are told.
During the event, Savonardo and his SBAND, joined by guests from the Neapolitan music scene, will perform songs from the concept album Bit Generation, produced by “La Canzonetta” in 2015 and reissued on vinyl in 2023, which is now celebrating its tenth anniversary.
The Bit Generation Multimedia Project
After the book published in 2013 (FrancoAngeli), the series of seminars at the University of Naples and the radio program on F2 RadioLab, in 2015 **Bit Generation** also becomes an album. In this work, Savonardo merges scientific research with musical passion, giving life to a cultural project in continuous evolution.
The album was produced by La Canzonetta Record, with the management of Aldo Foglia and the artistic direction of Raffaele Lopez and Giuseppe Scarpato.
Collaborations and Special Guests
The album features artists such as:
- Edoardo Bennato, author of the lyrics of L'Equilibrista and harmonica player in two songs;
- Gennaro T and Mario4mxFormisano of Almamegretta;
- Maurizio Capone, with the ecological sound in Sole della Tribù;
- Ciccio Merolla, percussionist and rapper;
- Danilo Vigorito, DJ author of the dub version of Bit Generation;
- Gianluca “Tripla” Vitiello, rapper and speaker on Radio Deejay;
- Gennaro Porcelli, blues musician;
- Giovanni Block, Tenco Prize;
- Derrick de Kerckhove, communicator and student of McLuhan, who performs in the song Always On.
The album's graphics were curated by director and artist Alessandro Rak. The project also includes reflections written by experts such as Claudio Poggi, Renato Marengo and Alex Giordano, connected to the album's tracks.
Vinyl Reissue and New Content
In 2023, Bit Generation was re-released in vinyl version, enriched by the unreleased song Angeli Senza Ali, produced by Claudio Poggi and with the artistic direction of Bruno Mariani.
The vinyl is preceded by the publication of the book Adolescenti Always On (FrancoAngeli, 2021), written with Rosanna Marino. The cover includes a QR code that links to the video clip of the song Always On, performed by Derrick de Kerckhove.
A Crossmedia and Transmedia Event
As part of the Officine San Carlo project, the Bit Generation Live Party celebrates ten years of an experience that goes beyond music.

The Officine San Carlo: Culture and Urban Regeneration
Since 2021, Teatro San Carlo has activated an artistic experimentation project in the former Cirio factories in Vigliena, a peripheral area and symbol of industrial desertification. The Officine San Carlo project aims to use art as a tool for cultural, social and civic regeneration.
Lello Savonardo: Between Sociology and Music
Lello Savonardo is a professor of Sociology of Cultural and Communicative Processes at the University of Naples Federico II, where he also coordinates the Youth Observatory. He is the author of essays on music and young people, including:
- Sociology of Music (Utet, 2010)
- Pop Music, Media and Youth Cultures (Egea, 2017)
- Bit Generation* (FrancoAngeli, 2013)
In his career he has combined scientific research and artistic creativity, collaborating with artists such as Jovanotti, Edoardo Bennato, Subsonica, Carmen Consoli, Roy Paci, and many others.
He received the Lunezia Award, and his album Bit Generation is the fruit of a long cultural work that continues today.
