Castellammare – There are sixteen people under investigation in the anti-Camorra blitz that this morning dealt a blow to the D'Alessandro clan of Castellammare: eleven ended up in prison while another 5 remain under investigation at large.
The leading figure in this investigation conducted by the Carabinieri under the coordination of the Dda of Naples, (prosecutor Nicola Gratteri, deputy Sergio Ferrigno, substitute Giuseppe Cimmarotta) is the boss Vincent D'Alessandro, called the last uncle of the deceased's male children godfather Michele D'Alessandro.
His wife also ended up in prison with him Carmela Elephant daughter of the historical ras Antonio Elefante called Muzzarella, who managed the clan's coffers and paid the families of the prisoners, and the son John, 28 years old involved in extortion activities.
But he also ended up in prison surveyor Angelo Schettino, 48 years old, son of a historic ASL trade unionist, who died a few years ago. Schettino, controlled the municipal cameras but also provided information on public contracts to the gang.

The repentant Pasquale Papicano in a report defines it “a real bandit and passes the papers relating to public contracts to the clan”.
And as can be read in the approximately 500 pages of the precautionary order signed by the investigating judge Fabrizio Finamore It was Angelo Schettino who prepared the necessary documentation for the transfer of a property in the historic centre of Castellammare by simulating the sale in favour of Katia Scelzo. The woman, who is under investigation, is the daughter of Pietro Scelzo called 'o nasone' killed in a Camorra ambush under the house in 2006.
That house was the clan's compensation in favour of the woman who had given false testimony in the trial before the Third Section of the Assize Court of
Naples in charge of Ingenito Vincenzo (brother-in-law of the boss Luigi D'Alessandro, known as
“Gigginiello”, born in 1947), as the instigator of the murder of his father Pietro Scelzo.
Among the suspects also the traffic policeman Salvatore Sarno, originally from Caserta, who had helped one of those arrested today by getting back his confiscated driving license without ever sending it to the Prefecture.
Also under investigation Luciano Verdoliva, the convicted son of the deceased boss Peppe the driver, released from prison in last February acquitted of the serious charge of murder after almost two years of detention.
They also ended up in prison Michele Abbruzzese the peacemaker old member of the gang and relative of the D'Alessandros, and again Ugo Lucchese called “ugariello” who as a young man was one of the most ruthless killers of the gang.
The investigation analyses a series of extortions carried out against traders and entrepreneurs from Castellammare di Stabia, such as the one carried out personally by the boss Enzo D'Alessandro against a well-known bar whose owner was beaten by the same "uncle". But also the attack against a well-known fishmonger "guilty" of having "dared" to buy fish from his cousin and not from the boss himself.
