It is not a horror film, but the beginning of a real nightmare, which took place last night in a grocery store in Castellammare di Stabia, where a 55-year-old man attempted to disfigure his wife before beating her until she was left lifeless on the ground.
It was almost closing time when an argument broke out between the two, probably yet another one. But this time the husband went too far: he grabbed a bowl, filled it with hydrochloric acid and threw it at the 50-year-old. Not just once, but several times, as if he wanted to make sure not a single drop was wasted.
The acid corrodes her shirt, her jeans, then burns her neck and foot. A few drops even enter her mouth and throat, burning her mucous membranes. But that's not enough for the man. Once the acid has run out, he throws himself on her with punches and kicks, leaving her unconscious on the ground. Then, coldly, he lowers the shutter and goes out, as if nothing had happened.
Taken to hospital with minor burns
The woman, transported in red code, has difficulty speaking due to the pain in her trachea. Fortunately, the burns are first degree and will not leave permanent marks. But doctors are still evaluating the consequences of the beatings.
Meanwhile, i Carabinieri of the Castellammare station have already tracked down and arrested the 55-year-old, now in prison awaiting trial.
