Naples – An act of unheard-of cruelty shook the A16 motorway yesterday, where a woman from Avellino was reported by the Police Police for throwing two kittens out of the window of his car, one of which was found lifeless.
The alarm was raised after a report reached the Operations Center of the Highway Police of Naples North: a driver had reported seeing kittens flying from the passenger compartment of a moving car. The officers, who intervened promptly, have:
The vehicle was intercepted while travelling on the A16, at the height of Tufino (Km 17 North);
The driver, a 30-year-old from Avellino, was identified, but initially denied the incident;
A dead kitten was found on the roadway and an investigation was launched.
Subsequent checks led the officers to the woman's home, where it emerged that a stray cat had given birth to two kittens in the condominium courtyard about 20 days earlier.
The kittens matched in color and coat to the one found dead on the highway;
The woman, who was heading to Naples for work, allegedly took the two animals to get rid of them during the trip.
The 30-year-old was reported for abandonment of animals, a crime punishable by Article 727 of the Penal Code with up to one year in prison or a fine of up to 10.000 euros. The officers are looking for the second kitten, of which there is currently no trace.
