A relegation that stings, even more so if one of the icons of Blucerchiati history is speaking. Giuseppe Dossena, Italian champion with Sampdoria in 1991 and world champion in 1982, does not mince words when commenting on the club's collapse in Serie C.
The former midfielder pointed the finger at years of bad choices and a management that he bluntly defines as “catastrophic”. “A catastrophic series of errors has been committed, perhaps due to indifference, incompetence or dangerous underestimation of the situation. – he declared –. The decline did not start in the last few days, but had been going on for months. And this is the most serious fact: not being ready to lead a club like this is damaging and unacceptable”.
Dossena, today in Paraguay for a FIFA congress, said that even abroad there is disbelief at the fall of the samp: “Many people, from different parts of the world, were incredulous. Everyone remembered the championship, the finals, the victories. No one could explain such a fall”. The former Blucerchiato then went straight to the heart of the problem: "The mistakes are obvious, but if you keep entrusting them to the first person who comes along, there's little you can do. Football is not the most important thing in life, but it's a serious thing. It's not a pastime: it should be treated with respect and professionalism."
