Domenica Russo, 43, is the woman who died in the tragic road accident that occurred on the afternoon of May 15 along the Pedemontana, near the Lomazzo tunnel (Como). The teacher was on a school trip with her students from the Pascoli primary school in Cazzago Brabbia (Varese), where she had recently been appointed teacher.

For years she had worked as a social worker, then she chose to dedicate herself to school and children. She was highly esteemed by her colleagues, parents and loved by her little students. Domenica leaves behind a partner and a daughter.

The accident on the school trip bus

According to initial reports, the bus carrying two classes (first and fourth grade), with 35 children on board, violently collided with a truck. The teacher was sitting in the front rows, near the driver: she died instantly.

The crash also involved four other vehicles. The bus driver, 60 years old, was injured and hospitalized with a yellow code. None of the children suffered serious physical consequences, but the entire school community is in shock.
