Naples – Sentenced to 14 years in prison for Camorra crimes, but considered in serious health conditions, Pasquale Scognamiglio, 57 years old, was released from prison and transferred under house arrest.
The decision was taken by the investigating judge Luca Rossetti, who accepted the request presented by the defendant's lawyer, the criminal lawyer Domenico Dello Iacono, authorizing the transfer to allow the alleged boss to receive adequate treatment.
Scognamiglio is considered by the investigators of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate to be one of the leaders of the new feud that has bloodied the Neapolitan neighborhood of Miano, and his name resurfaced in the judicial news a few days ago, on May 5, when the public prosecutor of the DDA asked 17 convictions for a total of over 270 years in prison.
The investigation, launched in 2021, led to the execution of 19 precautionary measures, including 18 arrests and a residence ban.
The investigation into the clash between the veterans of the Lo Russo clan
At the centre of the investigations, the clash between criminal groups Scognamiglio e Pecorelli-Cato, opposed in a violent Camorra war. The feud had two main victims: Salvatore Milano, believed to be close to the Lo Russo clan, and Antonio Avolio, killed by mistake instead of the real target, Oscar Pecorelli, Said the shepherd.
According to the prosecution's reconstruction, Milan was killed on April 22, 2021 while drinking a coffee in a bar in Miano. Carlo Perfetto reported his presence to the perpetrators, John Scognamiglio e Fabio Pecoraro, who broke in and shot at point-blank range. Also under investigation for that ambush are Salvatore Ronga e Bernardo Turin.
The second murder, that of Avolio, dates back to June 24, 2021. The victim was hit by a blow to the head while he was riding a scooter. Among those accused of the crime are Luke Isaiah – indicated as the material executor – and other prominent names of the organization: Emanuele Palmieri, Fabio Pecoraro, Salvatore Ronga, as well as Pasquale, Antonio and Giovanni Scognamiglio.
According to investigators, the Avolio murder was a “stopgap” choice: the target was supposed to be Oscar Pecorelli, who was too well protected to be hit.
The trial for the two murders is being held in the Assize Court with ordinary procedure. Several defendants accused instead of mafia association, drug trafficking and racketeering, they chose the abbreviated rite.

It is incredible how some people can get house arrest even after such serious crimes. Sure, health is important, but what message does it send to society? This only fuels the feeling of impunity.
