In an event that promises to shake up ancient ruins and cultural palates, Enrico Vanzina bursts onto the scene with the Pompeii International Film Festival, a festival that spares no blows against global flattening, immersing the public in unreleased films and cutting reflections on identity, fashion, tourism, history, archaeology, social justice and female emancipation.

Culturally Thrilling Program

The festival, presented by Annarita Borelli at Maximall in Torre Annunziata, will take place from June 3rd to 8th, culminating in a lavish gala with red carpet and awards ceremony in the Amphitheater of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii."I had traveled all over the world but had never seen ancient Pompeii. And here I felt a shocking emotion. - confessed Vanzina, who is the artistic director of the event - And here I understood the strength that underlies our cultural identity. This Festival was born from the need to protect and enhance each specific cultural identity, in a world where everything tends toward homogenization., declared Vanzina, transforming cinema into a weapon against homogenization with films from every corner of the planet. Eight feature films are in competition: one Afro-German, two French, one Turkish, one Mexican, two Asian films from Japan and China, and a single Italian film, "Da cosa nasce cosa," directed by and starring Gino Rivieccio.

Stars and Grumpy Debates

Screenings and talks will be held at the newly formed Nexus Maximall Entertainment, with tickets at ridiculously low prices to make this cultural explosion accessible.

Borelli, the festival's president, emphasizes: "These are all works of great cultural impact, rich in content," with thematic panels that include debates on cinema and identity, involving directors, the Accademia della Crusca, and critics.

From June 4th to 7th, figures such as Marco Risi, Enrico Vanzina, Gianni Amelio, and Neri Parenti will address burning topics such as "Cinema and Territory; Cinema and Language; Cinema and Customs; Cinema and Tourism," with free admission and reservations available on Ticketone.

The closing event on June 8th, conducted by Sergio Assisi, features Neri Parenti and Luca Ward, with the Italian Army Band Orchestra performing film classics, accompanied by mezzo-soprano Lucia Rubedo and Marta Pignataro's violin, all crafted by sculptor Domenico Sepe.

I don't know if this film festival will be a success or not, but I think it is important for the local culture and to give visibility to international films. I hope there will be many people interested in attending and watching these films.
