On May 15, 2025, the Casa del Giallo in Naples (via Enrico Alvino, 129 – quart. Vomero) dedicates a meeting to the most famous secret agent in the world, with book presentations, incredible stories and speeches by the most authoritative Neapolitan “bondologists”.
A national preview of the presentation of BONDOLOGY (Independently published, December 2024), the recent book dedicated to the myth of James Bond by Francesco Bellofatto: in the pages of Bellofatto's volume is revealed - as the subtitle of the book says - "Everything there is to know about the most famous Secret Agent in the world".
The event's audience is completed by the journalist and writer Michelangelo Iossa, a great expert on the Agent in Her Majesty's Secret Service, who will present his two books 007 OPERAZIONE SUONO (Rogiosi Editore, December 2020) and FLEMING/LUCIANO. Ian and Lucky in Naples (Jack Edizioni, May 2023).
The meeting will be introduced by Ciro Sabatino, founder of the Casa del Giallo and patron of the Festival del Giallo Città di Napoli, and moderated by Andrea Raguzzino, lawyer and writer.

What links a famous writer, a notorious gangster and the most mysterious city in the Mediterranean?

Spring 1952: Publisher Jonathan Cape brings out Casino Royale, Ian Fleming's first James Bond book, in Britain.
Spring 1960: Ian Fleming and Lucky Luciano meet in Naples, the most thrilling city in Italy, and the gangster gives the journalist a historic interview in which he talks about himself, the mafia, the illicit activities of which he is the godfather and what it means to be an exile in one's own homeland.
This book reconstructs the meeting between Fleming and Luciano and tells the story of the journey that led two protagonists of the twentieth century to exchange a few words on the most famous seafront in the world.

The meeting seems interesting for fans of the genre, but I'm not sure if there is really an added value in presenting Bond books. We'll see if I can attend the event.
Yes, it is true that Bond is an iconic character, but many books have already been written. I wonder if there will be interesting novelties that are not yet known.
The subject of James Bond is always fascinating, but I feel like there's been too much attention on him lately. Maybe it would be nice to explore other characters from crime fiction.
