Naples – Caught red-handed while stealing from a newsstand in Piazza Sannazaro, Mergellina . Two men, aged 62 and 31, both Neapolitans with criminal records (the older man also having similar crimes), were arrested this morning by the State Police for aggravated theft.
The intervention was carried out by officers from the Posillipo Police Station, engaged in a territorial control service. After a report to the Operations Room, the police officers arrived on site and found the newsstand's shutter completely raised. Inside, the two men were rummaging through drawers looking for money.
At the sight of the officers, the thieves attempted to flee, but were quickly stopped. In their pockets, the police found 160 euros, just stolen from the business.
The two were immediately arrested.
It is a very serious fact that two people steal from a newsstand, but I do not understand how people come to do it. Let us hope that the authorities do more to prevent similar episodes in the future and that justice is done.
