Residences that never existed, falsified documents and foreign citizens transformed into "Italians" thanks to the complicity of public officials and private mediators. This is what emerged from the investigation of the metropolitan police of Naples, coordinated by the Naples North prosecutor's office, which led to the issuing of eight precautionary measures against members of an organization accused of criminal association, forgery of a public document and corruption.
At the center of the system, according to investigators, was the owner of a company acting as an intermediary between Brazilian citizens and the registry offices of the Municipalities of Orta di Atella and Frattaminore. In exchange for sums ranging from 8.000 to 45.000 euros per transaction, the network quickly guaranteed Italian citizenship iure sanguinis through fictitious residences, manipulated certificates, and the use of counterfeit stamps.
House arrest included municipal employees and municipal police officers, accused of having falsified public documents to “regularize” foreign citizens who had never actually lived in the territories indicated. Three other people are being investigated for having provided fake properties as residences and having produced false official documents.
The investigations began as an extension of a previous investigation in the Municipality of villaricca, where a similar system had already been dismantled in 2024 with numerous arrests and convictions, also involving Brazilian footballers and well-known faces. This time too, everything revolved around a few addresses used for dozens of registry registrations, always attributable to the group's accomplices.
The practices were processed quickly thanks to the internal collaboration of the Municipalities, with a lot of "cash accounting" that recorded the figures and names of the officials paid to close the operations. A well-established and profitable system, which according to the investigators brought in millions of euros, selling at a high price what should have been a rightful conquest and not a purchased privilege.

The situation is very complex and makes you think about how institutions can be compromised. I hope that the authorities take serious measures to stop this illegal practice that damages the image of our country and our law.
