A major joint operation between the Carabinieri Forestali and the Port Authority led to the seizure of 19 illegal fishing structures along the mouth of the Agnena Canal, in the municipality of Mondragone . The raid is part of efforts to combat fish poaching along the Caserta coast, which intensified over the past weekend.
The operation saw the participation of the military of the Carabinieri Forestali Nuclei of Castel Volturno, Sessa Aurunca, Roccamonfina, Vairano Patenora and of the Caserta Group, supported by the men of the Local Maritime Office of Mondragone of the Port Authority.
The 19 illegal structures, all positioned along the right orographic bank of the final stretch of the Agnena Canal, consisted of scales with iron rods, ropes, pulleys and nets that extended into the body of water. Investigations revealed that such equipment was different in length and size from what is required by the regulations on illegal fishing.
All the irregular material was removed and entrusted to the judicial depository, pending confiscation and subsequent destruction. Not only that. During the operation, three individuals were also identified as fishing in inland waters without the necessary authorization license. They were given an administrative fine of 166 euros each.
The intervention underlines the constant commitment of the police forces in protecting the environment and in repressing illegal activities that threaten the marine and river ecosystems of the Caserta coast.

this article is very interesting because it talks about things that happen in our region. but i dont understand why people continue to fish illegally. they should respect the fishing rules and protect the environment.
