Following the wounding, the prefect of Naples Michele di Bari ordered an immediate intensification of controls in the eastern area of the city, already the scene in recent days of numerous "high impact" operations conducted by the Police, Carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza. The activities led to dozens of controls, fines, seizures of vehicles and illicit substances, including half a kilo of contraband tobacco.
The Ponticelli area was recently declared a "red zone" with extraordinary security measures, including a ban on loitering for individuals deemed dangerous. Last week, the prefect himself attended the VI Municipality's observation panel to reaffirm the State's concrete presence alongside residents, schools, and associations.
The ambush will be the subject of further investigation in the next Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety.
