Naples – A Camorra-style ambush, fortunately without consequences, had as its unwitting setting the Foqus Foundation in the Spanish Quarters.
The episode, which occurred late on Sunday evening, has similarities with a previous murder attempt that took place on April 27 in Nardones Street. It cannot be ruled out that the two episodes are connected, whether they involve the same victim or whether the raid on Foqus was a response to the previous ambush.
Four hooded men, two of whom were armed with pistols and the others with rifles, broke into the premises of the Foqus Foundation, in via Portacarrese in Montecalvario, shortly before midnight.
At the time, equipment used for an event was being dismantled. The gunmen threatened an entrance attendant and walked away, firing several shots into the air. No one was injured and no material damage was reported.
Investigators rule out that the armed raid was an intimidation of the Foundation and are focusing their investigations on the internal dynamics of the clans in the area, which are perpetually in turmoil.
La Foqus Foundation reported the incident, specifying that the armed men were looking for a person they did not find. The police, who did not find any shell casings or bullet holes, are investigating organized crime circles.
“The safety of the technical staff and the few operators present was never compromised,” the Foundation said, adding that measures had been put in place to strengthen surveillance, although it defined the episode as an “isolated case generated by confrontations between rival gangs.”
The investigations are being conducted by the Mobile Squad of the Naples Police Headquarters, in collaboration with the Montecalvario police station. The investigators, expert connoisseurs of the territory, have already acquired testimonies and video surveillance images.

One of the investigative leads concerns a possible connection with the shootings of April 27 in via Nardones. On that occasion, a man who is not yet identified was missed by a gunshot fired by a single assailant, who then fled on foot.
The Carabinieri are investigating that episode, analyzing video surveillance images and focusing on the tensions in the criminal environment, due to the absence of the clan leaders from the territory and the attempt by a group of young people to take control.

The article describes a worrying episode, but in my opinion the situation in Naples is very complex and cannot be reduced to just an ambush. I hope that the authorities will be able to clarify these facts and guarantee safety for everyone.
