An operation launched at first light today led the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of the Provincial Command of Naples to execute a custodial order issued by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Naples, at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Naples.
The handcuffs have clicked on several people, seriously suspected, in various capacities and in complicity with each other, for the murder of Emanuele Durante , whose brutal assassination shocked the city last March 15th.
The ambush on March 15 near the National Museum
The deadly ambush took place in broad daylight, on the afternoon of that Saturday, not far from one of the symbolic places of Naples, the prestigious National Archaeological Museum. The news of Durante's murder had caused great alarm and dismay in public opinion, both for its brutality and for the centrality of the place where it occurred.
The investigations, immediately started by the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit and coordinated by the DDA, have worked tirelessly to shed light on the brutal crime, reconstruct the dynamics of the murder and identify the alleged perpetrators.
Investigators sifted through testimonies, meticulously analyzed images from surveillance cameras in the area, both public and private, and carried out technical investigations in order to gather solid and unequivocal evidence.
The custody order executed this morning represents an important turning point in the investigation, outlining, according to investigators, the alleged responsibilities of those arrested in the murder of Emanuele Durante.
At this time, no further details have been provided on the exact number of people arrested, their alleged roles within the alleged criminal group, or the possible motive that armed them.
However, the intervention of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate suggests that the murder could have matured in the context of organized crime, a hypothesis that the investigators will certainly have explored in depth during their investigative activities.
