Naples – A tense afternoon ensued at the Lido delle Monache in Posillipo, where the theft of seven cell phones and two wallets sparked violent scuffles between groups of youths, necessitating the intervention of law enforcement to restore calm.

The news, accompanied by videos of the moments following the chaos, was immediately reported by some witnesses to the Green-Sinister Alliance MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli.

The episode of petty crime and the resulting brawl clash with the beach cleaning initiative promoted by the same deputy Borrelli in the morning. Together with the Councilor of the Municipality I of Europa Verde Lorenzo Pascucci and a group of volunteers, Borrelli had gone to the coast to remove the waste abandoned by uncivilized people, in an attempt to restore decorum to one of the most suggestive places on the Neapolitan coast.

“This morning we experienced only an apparent calm, a few hours were enough for chaos to erupt again”, commented Borrelli. “These are the consequences of an overcrowded and unattended beach. Yet another demonstration of the need to quickly find concrete solutions that guarantee access to rights but also public safety.

People who want to enjoy a day at the beach in their own city cannot risk being robbed or involved in a fight."

The Avs MP reiterated his call for the establishment of a tourist police force with dedicated control services for bathing areas. “But it's not enough”, he added, “it is necessary to identify and make available new bathing spaces”.

In this context, Borrelli expressed his strong opposition to the rejection by the superintendency of the project of the Municipality of Naples for the construction of a stilt house on the cliff of via Caracciolo. “A 690mXNUMX structure, equipped with a ramp for the disabled, which would have guaranteed access to over a thousand people.

A decision that is, to say the least, incomprehensible against a project that could have represented a concrete step forward in favor of citizens and tourists”, concluded Borrelli, underlining the urgency of addressing the “beach emergency” in Naples with concrete and far-sighted interventions.

It's really strange how a beach that looks so beautiful can have security issues. People should be able to have fun without fear of being robbed, especially in a place as popular as Posillipo, but there are too many things that are wrong.
