This is the main lead that investigators are focusing on to reconstruct the motive for the "stesa" that took place during the night in Pianura and the capture by men from the Naples Flying Squad of Salvatore Longobardo, 39, and Luca Musto, 24.
Those arrested: links with the Santagata clan
The two were arrested for illegal possession of weapons. A few minutes before their capture, a shooting took place in Piazza San Giorgio, but at the moment the two are not directly accused of the shooting. However, the investigations point in that direction: Musto, in particular, is said to be close to the Santagata clan, one of the factions fighting in the territory.
He was arrested in November 2023 and then released from prison at the Review Court together with six other emerging members of the Santagata group, including a relative of Anthony Gaetano the baby boss known as biscuit was mortally wounded in March of the same year in Mergellina and then died in hospital after ten days.
The dynamics: reckless escape and guns seized
The alarm was raised around 2am, when some residents gunshots reported by fire. The patrol cars of the Pianura and Bagnoli police stations intercepted two men on a scooter who, at the sight of the patrols, attempted a daring escape, zigzagging for about 500 meters before being stopped.
They each had a gun on them, enough to trigger an arrest. They are now in the Poggioreale prison, while investigators verify any possible connections with the shooting. Shell casings were found on site, but no bullet hit cars or buildings: a sign that the goal was not to injure, but to "mark the territory".
Plain, a never-ending feud
The Pianura war is a clan war that has lasted 30 years, with sides that have changed face but not logic over time. Today the Santagata (heirs of the Calone-Esposito-Marsicano) and the Carillo-Perfetto face each other, in a conflict that has its roots in the clashes between Lago and Marfella.
Last month, twelve young Camorrus members of the Santagata and Carillo clans were arrested, including the alleged killer Emanuele Bruno.
The response of the institutions
Faced with the new episode, the prefect Michele Di Bari has ordered an increase in controls to avoid an escalation of violence. Meanwhile, the Flying Squad is investigating to establish whether the two arrested are really the perpetrators of the shooting.
The case will be discussed at the next meeting of the Provincial Committee for Order and Security, while the video surveillance cameras could provide new elements. For now, the bitter confirmation remains: in Pianura, organized crime continues to dictate the law.
