Naples – Sunbeds placed illegally on the Marechiaro rock, with the best spots “reserved” for a fee in what should be a free-access area.
A group of citizens who turned to MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli (Green-Sinister Alliance) denounced the situation, documenting with videos and photos the presence of alleged illegal operators intent on managing a real unauthorized beach.
According to reports, some individuals set up deck chairs and umbrellas every day, asking for money to grant the use of the most sought-after spaces on the scoglione, a state-owned area that, by law, should remain accessible to all free of charge.
Every summer the same script repeats itself
"Every summer the same scenario repeats itself," Borrelli said. "Dozens of illegal immigrants take over stretches of public beach to start illegal activities, often imposing themselves with arrogance or even violence. It is unacceptable. I ask for immediate checks to dismantle this illegal business and restore to citizens the full usability of the beaches".
The MP also relaunched the proposal, already advanced several times, to establish a permanent tourist police force to guarantee safety, legality and protection of the maritime state property: "We need a stable task force, capable of intervening promptly in contexts like this. We can no longer tolerate groups of bullies taking over public areas, taking them away from honest families and bathers".
The complaint has reignited the debate on the illicit use of coastal spaces in Naples, with citizens demanding concrete and immediate answers to defend the right to free bathing.

It is truly incredible that in an area that should be free there are these people who sunbathe and ask for money for deck chairs. The situation is worrying and something must be done to stop this abuse, it is not right.
