Naples – The most beautiful face of Naples, its iconic postcard overlooking the sea, is disfigured by a shameful expanse of waste.
The seafront, frequented daily by tourists and citizens, is in an unacceptable state of degradation, between neglect, abandonment and a clear lack of controls. The complaint comes from an indignant citizen, who documented the desolate situation with a video and turned to the deputy of the Green-Sinister Alliance Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
A few steps from the renowned Mappatella Beach, the cliffs are configured as a veritable cemetery of abandoned objects: tires of all sizes, rusty electric scooters, remains of canoes and even a precarious makeshift camp, a refuge for a homeless person looking for shelter among the garbage.
“I wanted to report that on the Naples seafront, starting from the hydrofoil dock up to the broken column, we are submerged in waste of all kinds, right under the promenade,” the citizen says in his appeal. “There are even three electric scooters, a canoe, a huge truck tire, a bicycle and, finally, the makeshift accommodation of a poor homeless person.”
The citizen's testimony, accompanied by eloquent images, paints a desolate picture of an area that should represent the pride of the city. The presence of bulky waste lying among the rocks, decomposing, and abandoned means of transport, testify to a failure in the management and control of public spaces.
The comment of the deputy Borrelli was very harsh: "We are faced with an unacceptable outrage. The seafront cannot become a garbage dump or an illegal deposit. The scooters, canoes, abandoned bicycles, bulky waste rotting between the rocks, are proof of the total failure of control and maintenance. We need an immediate cleanup and a more serious management of public spaces".
But the MP's indignation does not stop at the waste problem alone. "At the same time," Borrelli adds, "we must also address with dignity and responsibility the issue of social hardship, such as that of people who live in makeshift accommodation among the waste. We cannot allow all this to happen before the eyes of tourists and Neapolitans."
The situation of the Naples waterfront raises urgent questions about the management of urban waste, the maintenance of public areas and attention to the most vulnerable segments of the population.
The citizen's appeal and the echo of the deputy Borrelli ask for immediate intervention to restore decorum to one of the most iconic places in the city and to face with humanity the drama of those forced to live on the margins of society.

The situation of the Naples waterfront is really bad. It is unacceptable to see garbage abandoned everywhere, especially in a place that should be beautiful and welcoming for tourists and citizens. Something needs to be done.
